Department structure

Judges Office
Independent judges oversee proceedings, protect due process, and issue clear, consistent rulings based on the law and the record before the Court.
District Attorney’s Office
Represents the State, evaluates criminal matters, handles cell-call negotiations and plea agreements, and pursues fair outcomes supported by evidence. The office includes the District Attorney, Assistant District Attorneys, and prosecutors.
Defense Bar
The defense bar is divided between public defense and licensed private attorneys. Both protect client rights, provide legal counsel, and ensure the State’s case is properly tested.
Legal Training & Support
Paralegals are members in training who learn courtroom practice and work toward their bar license, with paths into the judiciary, prosecution, or defense.
